Represented in a stylized form, the horns of the animal carved on this stamp seal are clear and indicative of a stag. A branch motif appears behind the animal, while oblique lines form a triangularly shaped motif in the space below it. Stamp seals of this type were produced during the Jemdet Nasr period in Iran and the motifs represented are often indicative of the area in which they were produced. The composition of this seal, for example, is reminiscent of the mountain regions of Iran.
