Garment Hook
Eastern Zhou 周 dynasty, Warring States period, 4th--3rd century BCE
Jade
Length 11.7 cm (4 5/8 in)
Of cream colored and light brown jade, this garment hook has a curved body and a quadrangular button at the plain back. The front is decorated with three fluted bars and a plain, concave end piece. Between these bars the body is beveled. The back is beveled only above the topmost bar. The hook proper is reminiscent of a geometrically simplified horse head; it seems to have undergone some repair.
