Disk
Neolithic period--Shang 商 dynasty, 3d--2d millennium BCE
Serpentine
Diameter 32.2 cm (12 5/8 in.)
The thin disk is cut from a dark amber and gray serpentine that has almost completely altered to chalky white. Its thinness is evident as the disk appears semitranslucent in light. The undecorated surface is smoothly ground, and the hole is drilled from one side only.
