Curatorial Remarks

  • 1. (Louise Cort, 21  May 2008) Based on her research on shipwrecks, Roxanna Brown dates Sukhothai  ware bowls of this type to shipwrecks of the sixteenth century, including the  Singtai and the Xuande (both circa 1512–1540) (Brown 2004).


    Changed Date from 15th–16th century to 16th  century.

From 2005-2023 the work was part of the National Museum of Asian Art’s Arthur M. Sackler Gallery Collection and on March 21, 2023, the work was internally transferred to the National Museum of Asian Art Collection.
